Minister Pun Warns of Withholding Grants from Schools Failing to Form a School Management Committee

Minister of Education Mahabir Pun has threatened to withdraw federal grants for education from those municipalities that have not constituted School Management Committees (SMCs) as stipulated by law. He said that there are schools being operated in some local governments where there are no such obligatory committees, so the ministry has sent notices to get them to organize SMCs as soon as possible. If they do not, they will have their federal funding terminated. The ministry is also compiling the list of those municipalities that have not yet established the committees.
