On Wednesday, September 17, the government announced a nationwide general holiday to indicate a national day of mourning to honor the lives that were lost in the Gen Z demonstrations on September 8 and 9. The Cabinet resolution stipulated that Nepal would close every government office, as well as Nepali embassies and missions located in foreign countries, and the national flag would be lowered in memory of the deceased.
