As per the Asia Power Index 2024, Nepal’s overall score is 4.8, and it is ranked 25th out of 27 countries. It experienced a 15% boost in the total score, with particular advances on defense networks (+2.7), military capability (+1.1), cultural influence (+0.9), future resources (+0.5), and their range. But it scored less well in diplomatic influence (−0.7).
Out of all the dimensions, Nepal’s weakest area is resilience, where it ranks second-last because of susceptibility to natural disasters. The country’s strongest card is its defense network, and its negative power gap is a sign of underutilized resources. Nepal ranks among minor players, while China and the United States continue to fall between the world’s leading powers.
