New Virus Detected in Nepal Chickens

In Nepal a new report shows the Chicken Anemia Virus has been found in chickens in Chitwan and other areas. About one third of tested samples were positive and the virus weakens the immune system which can lower production. Vaccinating breeder mothers and chicks is advised and farmers are urged to tighten biosecurity at every step from feed to transport to stop the spread. The findings also highlight other infections linked to weak biosecurity.
