Plastic Pollution Increases in Nepal Amid Low Awareness And Enforcement Struggles

Plastic pollution in Nepal is emerging as a very big concern, as plastic waste is clogging the rivers, drains, and landfills. The thin plastic bags have continued to be used by people despite the ban in 2015 due to the ignorance and ease on the part of enforcement. The daily plastic waste generated in Nepal comes to approximately 1,000 tons, and most of this plastic is either discharged into the river or landfilled in open areas.
