The Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) will be staging a protest in Balkhu today, demanding the release of leaders arrested during the pro-monarchy protest at Tinkune on March 28. The protest will also criticize the government for using repressive measures both against and after that event. To ensure the demonstration is peaceful, more than 2,000 police will be deployed. Though controversial figures are still involved, like Durga Prasai, the protest is a joint people’s movement. Authorities are cautioning against violence, hoping to avoid a repeat of the March 28 protests, which descended into chaos.
