According to a study in The Guardian, around 60% of the top 100 TikTok videos sharing #mentalhealthtips include false or misleading information. Based on PICO data, out of 52 videos, many shared information about trauma, anxiety, and depression that was unclear or wrong. Examples like eating oranges during a shower to ease anxiety were often seen. It was mental health professionals who stated that such material was harmful, and they urged the government to tighten its rules. Since many people just recounted their personal stories, their videos were unreliable to people outside their community.
