According to the Nepal Gazette, there are a total of 88 public holidays by the Government of Nepal in the year 2082 BS. Of these, 52 Saturdays have been considered as regular weekly offs and 36 as privileged offs for festivals and special occasions. Among these, 7 days are devoted to Dashain, 5 to Tihar, and 28 to other numerous festivals. It has also declared six new national holidays: International Workers’ Day, Republic Day, Constitution Day, Martyrs’ Day, Democracy Day, and International Women’s Day. The notice also permits local governments to give extra holidays for regional festivals where necessary.
