Transport Entrepreneurs’ Protest Leaves Roads Deserted, Public Suffering

Transport Entrepreneurs' Protest

The Gandaki Province government’s policy about ride-sharing was seen as against the constitution and the Federal Vehicle Act. As a response, on Jestha 19, 2082, transport organizations in Nepal stopped running public transport services to show their dissatisfaction. Main cities, with Kathmandu leading, noticed empty roads due to buses, micros, and tempos being kept away, leaving people who relied on these vehicles stranded. There were more than 700 traffic police on the site, but no protesters could be seen. A lot of people hit the streets, and others chose Pathao and InDrive apps for transportation. Entrepreneurs have said that they may give their vehicle keys to the government if no action is taken on their demands.
