According to Minister of Communications and Information Technology Prithvi Subba Gurung, 5G testing will start in Kathmandu and Pokhara by mid-February. The government is in the process of developing the Digital Nepal Framework, he said, and this framework will increase the reach of technology in other sectors such as education, tourism, governance, and disaster management.
Gurung emphasized that 5G is critical to the development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and is committed to the national scale expansion of 5G in less than a year. The government is also establishing IT data centers and AI hubs in every province and is developing new laws to address the increasing cases of banking fraud.
