A pro-monarchy protest was held in Kathmandu on March 28, which turned violent, causing two deaths, several injuries, and vandalism. The ruling CPN-UML party held former king Gyanendra Shah responsible for the protest, in part for inciting unrest in his February 19 message and for giving the command of the protest to the controversial Durga Prasai. The UML argues the violence was premeditated, not a spontaneous public outburst. More than 100 people have been arrested, but the government has so far declined to form a judicial commission, saying that existing legal frameworks are adequate. The UML is combating pro-monarchy sentiments with mass rallies, including one scheduled for April 24.
The former king should take responsibility for the Tinkune violence as per UML.
