A Nepali student from Birgunj studying BTech in her first year died by suspected suicide inside her locked hostel room at Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) in Bhubaneswar on Thursday evening. The local police initiated their investigation but will wait for the student’s parents to arrive before performing the autopsy. The death of Prakriti Lamsal in February marked the beginning of safety concerns for Nepali students at the university before this recent incident. The Nepali Embassy is working with Indian authorities, and additional information will be available after the postmortem results.
