Real-time Box Office System Now Compulsory in Cinema Halls!

The Film Bill 2081 BS, which recently entered the National Assembly of Nepal, requires every cinema hall and movie theater throughout the country to use a unified box office system. This bill requires all tickets to be electronically generated through software connected to the Film Development Board’s central server, which enables real-time data exchange. The bill requires each ticket to display a special code that matches the selected movie, while theaters must employ encoding systems for screening purposes. The system aims to provide transparent ticket sales monitoring through centralized tracking. Theft of equipment and closure of cinema halls are among the possible penalties that arise from non-compliance, which also includes monetary fines reaching up to Rs 1 million.
