Jiangxi Construction Engineering, a Chinese company, faces investigation due to suspected fabricated documents in their bid for the 106 MW Jagadulla Hydropower Project in Nepal. The company’s lack of hydropower expertise and its deceptive Zambia project images from another firm form the basis of competing bidder complaints.
The bidders have stated that serious breaches of confidentiality exist since their competitors’ bid prices were released publicly, while also expressing concerns about a digital bidding system being hacked. Complaints were sent to both Nepal’s Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) and the Public Procurement Monitoring Office (PPMO) to launch a formal probe into the situation.
