The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has filed a corruption case against 18 individuals, including Sangita Pahadi, managing director of Nepal Telecom, regarding misconduct involving a billing contract. The case indicates that Nepal Telecom awarded a contract worth about NPR 3.15 billion to Asia Info without a tender, which led to a loss of about NPR 334 million. Even though a new tender was needed, the contract for four years was extended in January 2023 and might be extended by another year. Managing calls and internet services depends on the billing system, and the CIAA noticed it to be full of unfair and corrupt practices.
