Consumer Price Inflation Climbs to 2.42% in Mid January

Consumer price inflation climbs in Nepal

As of mid January, consumer price inflation in Nepal has surged to 2.42% from 1.63% from a month ago. However, inflation is still at a lower level than that of last year, when it stood at 5.41%. Over the past six months, the inflation has also declined to 1.70%. The prices of pulses, spices, and cereals have fallen, whereas the prices of fruits and edible oils have increased. The inflation rates varied in different provinces, with urban areas having higher inflation rates than rural areas.
