The District Administration Office (DAO) in Kathmandu has introduced a new technology based “Pass” system that allows people to receive services like citizenship certificates and National Identity (NID) cards within 20 to 30 minutes. The system replaces long queues with a token based process, where documents are checked at a help desk, and services are provided efficiently in a comfortable waiting area with basic facilities. According to officials, the new setup has reduced delays, removed middlemen, improved monitoring, and made public services faster and more citizen friendly, showing positive results within just two weeks of implementation.
