To encourage clean transportation and increase domestic electricity use, the government has decided to maintain the current tax and duty structure on EV (Electric Vehicle) imports. Finance Minister Bishnu Paudel declared that EV charging station equipment would be fully tax-exempt and subject to a 1% customs duty. Additionally, EV infrastructure-related industries will be exempt from income taxes for five years. By utilizing its excess hydropower and lowering its reliance on fossil fuels, these actions aid Nepal’s transition to green energy.
