Nepal’s civil aviation still on EU blacklist

Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal

The civil aviation authority of Nepal remains on the safety blacklist of the European Union as of June 3, 2025, and Nepali airlines are not allowed to fly to any European Union country following the continuing safety issues. Since 2013, Nepal has remained on the list under the monitoring of the EU, which claims that Nepal is yet to comply with the international safety standards under the aegis of ICAO. Such a ban has hampered the capacity of Nepal Airlines to expand its operations beyond the country and brought a bad image to the country. The government has long promised reforms, but little has been done in a real sense over the years. In an attempt to reform the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal, two new bills are initiated to revise the organization in order to achieve better safety oversight and fulfill the EU requirements.
