Nepal Rastra Bank has declared that this year, there will be no gold coins (asarfi) issued on the occasion of the Tihar festival because of the change of policy and fluctuating gold prices in the global market. Rather, the bank will sell only the silver coins of the customary festive images, which are well suited as gifts in the festival of lights.
