Nvidia, Joining The Big Tech Deal Spree, to License Groq Technology, Hire Executives

Nvidia Joining The Big Tech Deal

According to Groq, Nvidia has licensed the AI chip technology of the startup Groq and even employed the CEO and the key engineers of the latter. The acquisition will allow Nvidia to access Groq technology without a full acquisition, which is a common practice by big tech companies to acquire talent and innovation. Groq will remain a standalone firm, with its business being in the cloud. The acquisition assists Nvidia in consolidating its role in the field of AI inference, where the number of competitors is increasing, without the need to acquire a company outright, with possible regulatory consequences.
