Prithvi Subba Gurung, the Minister of Communication and Information Technology, has claimed that the government is ready to strike social media sites that have already been ignoring repeated notices to be registered in Nepal. Most of the major platforms have not complied even with three official notices, and the government has developed a new bill on regulations.

Gurung noted that such firms rejected Nepal because they considered that there is no particular legislation, although currently the government is putting sincere efforts regarding the control and regulation of content. He reaffirmed that all portals have to work according to Nepali laws and in the future, Nepal would not countenance people who do not comply with the legal practices in Nepal.
