There was palpable tension at the Chief Minister’s office of the Madhesh Province following the unexpected appointment of Saroj Kumar Yadav as the Chief Minister, which caused violent demonstrations. The seven opposition parties stormed in compliance with their leaders and activists and vandalized the office, to the point of tossing the national flag in rage. There was jostling of police on duty who were attempting to curb the chaos and spread to adjacent ministry offices. The violence arose following Province Chief Sumitra Subedi Bhandari swearing in Yadav early in the morning at a Bardibas hotel against the seven party alliance.
